Reviews

Important disclaimer:

I have obtained digital and/or physical copies of the music I write reviews about through official channels; that's the guarantee I give to the readers and the artists. This does imply my reviews will be mostly positive. However, I don’t think that’s a problem; the internet is negative enough as it is. I’d rather talk about my passions instead of my complaints, though I will include constructive criticism whenever I think it’s appropriate. There will be no standard scoring method (like 9/10 or 90%), but I will write a small piece of text which resonates with me as a listener. This allows for some creative freedom on my part, and should offer the readers expectations of a particular release. After all, the ultimate aim of Dungeon Synth is often about invoking atmosphere (despite this, it should be noted that many Dungeon Artists are gifted musicians).

To this end, my reviews will bear a lot of metaphors and descriptions. If you’re an artist who wants me to listen to your work, then I’ll be willing to do so. However, I will not accept payments as a means to push reviews through, nor do I make promises of reviewing a release of your project once I have given it a listen. There’s simply too much to go around to review every release, so I want to keep things free of pressure. I do not have any affiliations with record labels, distro's, or magazines. As a result, all of my reviews are independent and free of the promotional agenda's of record labels.
